10 Reasons Why AZ Needs a Democratic Legislature and Governor in 2010

Or.... What GOP Control Has Done for/to Arizonans

  1. An unbalanced budget, with no sign that the Republican Legislature and the Governor have any interest in coming up with one
  2. A plummeting bond rating. Because of the ideologically motivated fiscal mismanagement of Brewer and her soulmates in the legislature, short-term borrowing to tide over the state during lean cash-flow periods has become far more expensive
  3. A Brewer-imposed cap on enrollments to KidsCare, AZ's children's health-insurance program, abandoning many of AZ's most vulnerable citizens in their time of greatest need
  4. A Brewer-mandated effort to sell off state assets via a "Privatization Commission"
  5. More delays in promised payments of state funding to K-12 and higher ed, threatening to send Arizona's already low-ranked education system to an even lower ranking
  6. More raids of state, county, and municipal funds, shifting the burden of the state's fiscal debacle to towns, cities, and counties
  7. State parks closed, preventing Arizonans from enjoying the recreational resources they have supported with their tax dollars
  8. Most highway rest areas closed, increasing the risk of fatigued drivers on Arizona roadways, endangering themselves and others
  9. Reduced DPS staffing, leaving residents and travelers in the outer reaches of our state on their own in the event of an accident on Arizona's highways
  10. Embarrassment when we tell friends and family from other states about what the Legislature and Governor are doing to our state

These reasons and more are why D17 (and all of Arizona) need to work hard to keep D17 and CD5 blue, and to help elect a Democratic Governor and Legislature!

They were joined by Team C Leader Jim Parker (knocked on over 10K doors for Obama all over the US) and Team G Leader Andrew Harper (a community organizer who recently moved here from Nebraska). To join the team nearest you, e-mail Kristin.Gwinn@gmail.com.
